I tried rebooting, but that didn't work.

One way to get the game to refresh is to do a Force Stop and Clear Data. You can do this from Android's Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Words Free and then tap "Force Stop" and then "Clear Data." You'll have to log back in with your account email address.
