How do I view files on my USB storage media?

On Linux:

Mounting USB Storage Media

1. At the terminal prompt, type:

mount /mnt/usb

2. Then you can access the files by going into that directory:

cd /mnt/usb

3. You can list the files in that directory:

ls

Unmounting USB Storage Media

1. At the terminal prompt, type:

cd

so you can move out of the /mnt/usb directory. You cannot unmount a directory while you are in it.

1. Right-click on the desktop. Select “Disks”, then select the device you are mounting

(i.e. multimediacard, smartmedia, memstick, compactflash)

2. At the terminal prompt, type:

mount /mnt/'device'

(where 'device' = multimediacard, smartmedia, memtick or compactflash)
