How do I change the screen resolution?

On a Sun Ray terminal,

You can either type

, or choose 'Screen Resolution' from the RedHat menu.

You can also follow the instructions below.

To make your resolution smaller (larger icons)

1) Run utsettings and choose the resolution you want

2) Type utxconfig -r (the resolution you chose, i.e. 800x600) -s off

3) Log out and log back in

4) If you wish to change your resolution back to higher one (smaller icons), repeat step one.

Then type utxconfig -r (the resolution) -s on.

I get the error message 'You are not running a GNOME compliant window manager' whenever I log in.

This happens from time to time. Gnome has just lost your window manager for some reason. (Check your quota) To fix it...

On the tool bar at the top of your window click...

In the box that opens up scroll down on the right to 'Desktop' and choose the option 'Window Manager'.

Choose Twm from the left hand window.

Click 'Try'

Click 'Save session later.'

Now choose Sawfish.

Click 'OK'

Click 'Save session now.'
