# $L^2$ invariants and Benjamini-Schramm convergence

Minerva Distinguished Visitor Lectures at Princeton University: Benjamini-Schramm Convergence in Groups and Dynamics Topic: $L^2$ invariants and Benjamini-Schramm convergence Speaker: Lewis Bowen Affiliation: University of Texas, Austin and Princeton University; Minerva Distinguished Visitor Date: Friday, October 30 Time/Room: 1:30pm - 2:30pm/Fine 110, Princeton University

Finite models of infinite groups/actions/manifolds are useful for studying spectral and $L^2$-invariants, constructing random processes and have recently been used to introduce new invariants of group actions useful for proving nonembedding and nonisomorphism theorems. The first talk will be an overview for a general audience.
