setting up LDAP directory for addressbooks
Users can use the Institute LDAP address book to search or browse through the Insitute's directory.
- Click on Edit -> Preferences
- Click on Addressing. Then under "Address Autocompletion", click on "Edit Directories"
- Click on Add
- Fill in the fields as illustrated below. Then click OK.
- What you entered will now appear under "LDAP Directory Servers". You can know use the Institute's address book.
- To use the Address Book, just start typing the recepient's name and Mozilla will provide you with any matches. Just select the address you want.
- Click on Edit -> Preferences
Click on Composition. Then under "Address Autocompletion", check off "Directory Server", then click on "Edit Directories"
- Click on Add.
- Fill in the fields as illustrated below. Then click OK.
Name: whatever you want to name this directory Hostname: addressbook.ias.edu Base DN: o=ias Port number: 389 Bind DN:
- What you entered will now appear under "LDAP Directory Servers". You can know use the Institute's address book.

- Click on Tools -> Email Accounts
- Click on "Add a new directory or address book"
- Click on "Internet Directory Service (LDAP)"
- Fill in the fields as shown below and Click on More Settings
- The following message may appear. Click OK
- Click on the Search Tab. Then make sure Search base is "o=ias"
- Click on Finish
- To use the Directory. When composing a message, click on the To: field
Then click on the "Advanced" tab and choose Find.
- Type in the information of the person that you want to find.
When you click OK, the matches will appear. Then you can select the ones you want to include in your email message.
