In this talk I will go over a new approach to the Beurling-Selberg extremal problem for even functions based on the solution for the Gaussian and tempered distribution arguments. This provides interesting applications to analytic number theory, including Hilbert-type inequalities and improved constants on bounds for the Riemann zeta function on the critical strip, assuming the Riemann Hypothesis.
