Mini Conference December 10-12th
During term I of the year, School faculty member Jean Bourgain and Van Vu of Rutgers University will lead a program on arithmetic combinatorics. The following is preliminary information about the program.
Additive combinatorics deal with problems in number theory with combinatorial flavor. While this theory has been developing for many decades, the field has seen exciting developments and dramatic changes in direction in recent years (a well known example is Green-Tao theorem about the existence of arithmetic progressions in primes). In this focus program, we will bring together active researchers in this field and many related areas such as number theory, combinatorics and theoretical computer science.

Jean Bourgain: Sum-product theorems and applications; Oct 10, Oct 17 (2-4pm).
A. Gamburd: Sum-product estimates and expanders; Nov 15 (2-4pm)
Ben Green: Nilsequences in additive combinatorics; Oct 24 (2-4pm)
Van Vu: Inverse theorems and random matrices; Oct 11, 18 (2-4pm).
Mini-conference:
There will be a mini-conference from December 10th to December 12th.
